Tehran (HRNW)- Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian has rejected the possibility of surrendering to US economic pressure, saying Iran remains determined to confront what he described as an American economic war.
According to Iranian media, Pezeshkian said there was no question of accepting pressure or surrendering in the face of the country’s economic and political difficulties. He accused the United States of attempting to create divisions and anxiety within Iranian society through economic pressure.
The Iranian president urged citizens to support one another and emphasized the importance of national unity. He also called on intellectuals, academics, university teachers and researchers to play their role in reducing social tensions and addressing the country’s challenges.
Pezeshkian stressed that cooperation between the government and the people has become increasingly important under the current economic conditions, calling for greater solidarity among different sections of society.
His remarks come amid further US sanctions targeting individuals, institutions and sectors connected to Iran’s economy, including oil, finance, shipping and technology. Tehran has rejected Washington’s position, arguing that the sanctions are intended to create economic hardship and instability inside Iran.
