Islamabad (HRNW)- Federal Health Minister Mustafa Kamal has said that no one responsible for the tragic deaths of newborns at PIMS Hospital will be spared, adding that he has presented himself before the Prime Minister for accountability.
Expressing his condolences to the families, Mustafa Kamal said he prayed for the children who lost their lives and assured that anyone found responsible for negligence would face action.
According to the minister, CCTV footage showed a spark at around 6:38 a.m., while the rooms were filled with smoke by approximately 7 a.m. Initial reports indicate that the spark may have originated from an air-conditioning unit, after which nurses raised the alarm.
Mustafa Kamal said a comprehensive investigation into the incident is underway and all facts will be brought before the public. He added that ministers do not always have complete information immediately and said he was receiving updates continuously while also responding to media inquiries.
When asked whether he would resign, as might happen following such an incident in a developing country, the health minister said he had already presented himself before the Prime Minister for accountability.
