Over 148,000 Children Vaccinated on First Day of Polio Campaign

Islamabad (HRNW)- A meeting was held in the federal capital Islamabad under the chairmanship of Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters Uzair Ali Khan to review the performance of the first day of the third polio eradication campaign of the year 2026.

The meeting was attended by district administration and health department officials, where a detailed briefing was given on the performance of polio workers, problems faced and the progress of the campaign. According to the briefing, a target of 447,614 children has been set to be vaccinated against polio in Islamabad during this campaign.

Officials said that 148,783 children were vaccinated on the first day of the campaign, which has achieved 33 percent of the target. Polio teams are going door to door to administer vaccines to children, while special teams have also been deployed in schools and public places.

The meeting also reviewed the security arrangements for polio teams. The Additional Deputy Commissioner Headquarters said that all resources are being utilized to provide all possible facilities to the polio workers.

Uzair Ali Khan appealed to the citizens to fully cooperate with the polio teams, as complete eradication of polio is not possible without the cooperation of the public.
