India Lifts Emergency Gas Restrictions After Middle East LNG Supply Restored

New Delhi (HRNW)- India has lifted emergency restrictions on natural gas distribution after the supply of liquefied natural gas (LNG) from the Middle East returned to normal.

According to the World News Agency, the restrictions were imposed in March after LNG shipments were disrupted due to tensions in the Strait of Hormuz.

A notification issued by the Indian government stated that the emergency measures had been introduced after LNG shipments through the Strait of Hormuz were affected.

Under these measures, natural gas supplies to non-priority sectors were limited to ensure uninterrupted supply to power plants, the fertilizer industry, domestic consumers, and other essential sectors.

Officials said that LNG supplies from the Middle East have stabilized in recent weeks and shipping conditions have improved, restoring normal gas availability and eliminating the need for emergency restrictions.

India relies heavily on imported LNG to meet its energy needs, with a significant portion of its supplies arriving from Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, and other Gulf countries through the Strait of Hormuz.

The Indian government said it could reintroduce administrative measures if future disruptions affect the supply chain. However, for now, natural gas distribution across the country will continue as normal.

During the recent conflict involving Iran, the United States, and Israel, disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz created uncertainty in global energy markets and raised concerns over energy supplies.
