9 Palestinians Killed in Israeli Strike on Gaza Police Station Despite Ceasefire

Gaza (HRNW)- At least nine Palestinians were killed and 15 others wounded after Israeli forces reportedly carried out an airstrike on a civilian police station in Gaza, according to Palestinian officials.

The Gaza Interior Ministry condemned the attack, accusing Israel of deliberately targeting police personnel and warning that such strikes could contribute to further instability and chaos in the besieged territory. It said the officers killed were working to protect civilians and maintain basic order during the conflict.

The Israeli military, however, said the strike targeted individuals it described as terrorist elements involved in attacks against Israel and Jewish settlers. Israeli authorities have previously characterized some members of the Hamas-run police force as affiliated with the armed organization, while Palestinian officials describe the force primarily as responsible for maintaining civil order.

The latest incident comes despite a ceasefire in Gaza, with reports of continued Israeli attacks and shootings. In recent days, Gaza police chief Jamal Abu Kamil was killed in an Israeli drone strike in Gaza City, while another attack in Khan Yunis reportedly killed one Palestinian and wounded another.

According to Reuters, more than 1,250 Palestinians have reportedly been killed in Israeli attacks in Gaza since the ceasefire, most of them civilians, while four Israeli soldiers have also been killed during the same period.

Meanwhile, US representatives have held discussions with mediators from Egypt, Qatar and Türkiye regarding the Gaza peace plan, including the ceasefire, Hamas disarmament, the withdrawal of Israeli forces and the reconstruction of Gaza.
