Major Anti-Corruption Operation in SBCA: High-Ranking Officials Summoned Over Illegal Constructions

KARACHI (HRNW): In a significant move against illegal construction in Karachi, the Anti-Corruption Establishment (ACE) Sindh has initiated a formal inquiry into high-ranking officials of the Sindh Building Control Authority (SBCA). Sources indicate that the provincial watchdog has tightened the noose around Director General Muzammil Hussain Halepoto and several other senior officers, with formal summon notices dispatched for an appearance on May 6, 2026. Those summoned include the Director East, Deputy Director Mubashir Sheikh, Asif Sheikh, and Imtiaz Sheikh. The officials have been ordered to bring sanctioned building plans, detailed records of enforcement actions, and complete documentation regarding 220 specific plots in District East where irregularities are alleged. ACE Sindh has categorized the inquiry as “highly important and urgent,” noting that statements from the summoned officers will be formally recorded. This investigation follows persistent complaints regarding unauthorized buildings and could lead to major revelations, potentially resulting in high-level arrests or suspensions within the SBCA.
