Soaring Gold Prices Reshape Wedding Traditions Across South Asia

Karachi (HRNW)- A record rise in gold prices in South Asia is witnessing a clear change in wedding traditions. Expensive gold has made it difficult for brides and their families to buy genuine jewelry, resulting in changing wedding trends.

With the high price of gold, brides are now preferring imitation jewelry over traditional heavy gold jewelry. Along with this, one-gram gold jewelry is becoming increasingly popular as an alternative, which the middle class is considering as a practical and relatively cheap solution.

According to experts, rising inflation and gold prices have forced families to change their strategy, where simplicity and alternative choices are now being preferred instead of showiness.

Meanwhile, a significant decline in gold purchases has also been seen in Pakistan, India and Bangladesh. Analysts say that gold is now being seen more as an investment than as an ornament, while the way it is used in weddings is changing rapidly.
