Karachi (HRNW)- There is a fear of water supply disruption in the city as 7 out of 9 pumps of Dhabeji pumping station will remain closed for 48 hours from today.
According to a spokesperson of Karachi Water Corporation, the process of connecting the new line to the water network at Dhabeji pumping station will start from this afternoon, due to which the pumps are being temporarily shut down.
According to the spokesperson, 7 pumps will be restored on April 27, however, 2 pumps will remain closed for another 5 days. According to the Water Corporation, water supply will be affected in several areas of the city during this period, including North Karachi, Surjani, Scheme 33 and Gulistan-e-Jauhar. Similarly, water supply will also remain suspended in some parts of Gulshan-e-Iqbal, Saddar, Landhi, Korangi and Chanesar Town.
It has been further reported that Nipa, Safoora and Sakhi Hassan hydrants will also remain closed, while the city will face a water shortage of about 250 million gallons per day. Authorities have appealed to citizens to use water carefully and avoid unnecessary wastage so that the situation can be better managed in difficult times.
