Karachi: BRT Red Line Lot-2 Work Resumes; Mixed Traffic Lane Handed Over to FWO

KARACHI (HRNW): Construction work on Lot-2 of the BRT Red Line project on University Road has officially resumed, providing a much-needed development for the city’s infrastructure.

Mayor Karachi, Barrister Murtaza Wahab, confirmed that the Frontier Works Organization (FWO) restarted work on the project today.

According to sources, the responsibility for the “mixed traffic lane” of BRT Red Line Lot-2 has been assigned to the FWO. This development comes after the contract for Lot-2 was reportedly cancelled a few days ago due to administrative reasons. The resumption of work on the mixed traffic lanes is expected to alleviate the severe traffic congestion faced by commuters on University Road.

However, sources further clarified that the contract for the main “dedicated corridor” of Lot-2 has not yet been awarded to any party, and a decision regarding that section is still pending.
