LAHORE (HRNW): Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz has announced a landmark initiative to revive the film industry and promote modern technology by approving the establishment of “Punjab Film City,” spanning 50 acres.
According to CM Maryam Nawaz, this state-of-the-art Film City is being established within the “Nawaz Sharif IT City” in Lahore. It stands as the country’s first complete “end-to-end” media production project, aimed at providing international-standard facilities to the Pakistani film, television, and digital media sectors.
Key Features of Punjab Film City:
-
Modern Infrastructure: Modern studios, sound stages, and post-production labs for film, TV, animation, and digital media will be provided under one roof.
-
Self-Reliance in Technology: To reduce dependence on foreign services for Visual Effects (VFX) and post-production, high-end local technological resources will be integrated.
-
Shooting Areas: The project includes diverse shooting sets and a central lake specifically designed for cinematic filming.
-
Education and Trade: A media trade hub along with dedicated film and music schools will be an integral part of the project.
-
International Events: Spacious convention halls will be constructed to host global award shows and high-profile international events.
The Chief Minister highlighted that the project will create thousands of direct and indirect employment opportunities, providing a unified platform for talent, technology, and business. She added that Punjab Film City would be a significant step toward boosting the creative economy and fostering growth in the gaming and animation sectors.
