Pakistan Railways Issues Strict New Regulations: Unauthorised Media Coverage and Entry Declared a Crime

Lahore/Karachi (HRNW): In a significant move to bolster the security of national assets, Pakistan Railways has officially declared unauthorised news reporting, photography, and videography within railway premises a punishable offence. Railway authorities have issued comprehensive guidelines for journalists, vloggers, bloggers, and the general public, effective immediately.

Under the new directives, railway stations, platforms, and yards have been designated as “sensitive areas.” Recording, filming, or publishing any visual content within these boundaries without prior written permission is strictly prohibited. Authorities have warned that legal and departmental action will be initiated against those found capturing footage or images without authorization.

Key Directives and Restrictions:

  • Restricted Entry: Entry to platforms is now strictly limited to passengers holding a valid travel ticket or a platform ticket.

  • Prohibited Zones: Only authorized personnel are permitted to enter locomotive engines, brake vans, and other critical operational sections.

  • Crossing Tracks: Crossing railway yards or tracks is now a formal crime, carrying penalties of fines or imprisonment.

  • Mandatory Permits: Any media activity, including social media content creation, now requires a formal permit from the railway administration.

Railway officials stated that these measures have been implemented to safeguard national infrastructure and enhance overall security. Unauthorised individuals have been barred from sensitive installations, and all social media users and citizens are urged to strictly adhere to these new regulations to avoid legal consequences.
