Fuel Prices Likely to Surge Further as Petroleum Minister Sounds Alarm

Islamabad (HRNW): Federal Minister for Petroleum Ali Pervaiz Malik has expressed concerns regarding a potential hike in petrol and diesel prices, stating that the avoidance of a levy increase depends on securing relief from the IMF. The Minister revealed that the government is navigating a challenging economic situation and a final decision will be reached this Friday on whether to impose a petroleum levy of 50 to 55 rupees on petrol or diesel. He further noted that while the government aims to minimize the burden on the general public, the final pricing remains contingent upon IMF conditions and the prevailing situation in the international market.
