Karachi Mayor Orders Hub Reservoir Cleanup After 40 Years, Announces Major Boost in Water Supply

Karachi (HRNW)- On the orders of Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab, practical steps have been initiated for the cleaning and improvement of Hub Reservoir, which is being done after the last forty years. In this regard, the Mayor of Karachi, along with the CEO and COO of Water Corporation, visited Hub Reservoir and reviewed important administrative matters related to water supply to the city.

Later, addressing a press conference at the headquarters of Water Corporation, Mayor Karachi Murtaza Wahab said that as a result of recent rains, Hub Dam has been completely filled. He said that a new canal has been constructed on Hub Dam, while practical steps are also underway for the improvement and repair of the old canal.

According to the Mayor of Karachi, Hub Dam currently has enough capacity to supply water to the city at the rate of 100 million gallons of water per day for the next three years, while after the complete repair of the old canal, it will be possible to supply 200 million gallons of water per day. He further informed that the construction work of the new canal has been completed in eight months.

Murtaza Wahab said that the cleaning and improvement work of the Hub Reservoir, which has a capacity of 15 million gallons per day, has been targeted to be completed before Ramadan. He expressed his resolve that all available resources are being utilized for better and uninterrupted supply of water to the citizens.
