World Bank Warns of Energy Price Surge: Oil Could Hit $115 per Barrel

WASHINGTON (HRNW): The World Bank has released its Commodity Markets Outlook report for 2026, warning that global oil prices could reach their highest levels since 2022 due to intense pressure from the conflict in the Middle East. According to the report, the ongoing war has placed global markets under severe stress, creating a risk that oil prices could soar to $115 per barrel if the conflict remains prolonged. The World Bank projects that global energy prices are likely to increase by 16% to 24%, a surge that is expected to significantly drive up global inflation. This outlook highlights the vulnerability of international markets to geopolitical instability and the potential for a substantial rise in the cost of living worldwide as energy becomes increasingly expensive.
