Karachi Restoration Movement Warns of Protest Over ‘Worsening Law and Order’

Karachi (HRNW)- After the “Fikr-e-Karachi” meeting held under the chairmanship of Karachi Restoration Movement Chairman Ashraf Jabbar Qureshi, serious concern has been expressed over the current situation in the city. Addressing the meeting, Ashraf Jabbar Qureshi said that Karachi is currently in the grip of the worst unrest, mismanagement and corruption, where the lives and property of citizens are not safe.

He said that precious lives are being lost daily due to dumpers and heavy traffic in the city, while piles of dirt and unsafe development works have become a threat to citizens. According to him, the increasing incidents of target killings have further increased fear and panic among citizens.

Ashraf Jabbar Qureshi alleged that in recent times, there has been an increase in incidents of open looting by armed robbers, which is raising questions about the performance of law enforcement agencies. He said that local bodies, especially KMC and Mayor, have failed to stop corruption in Karachi city. According to him, the initiation of inquiries by NAB due to financial irregularities in various departments is proof that there is widespread corruption.

Terming the current situation as “worst governance”, he said that Karachi is being deliberately pushed into problems.

Ashraf Jabbar Qureshi announced that after the “Fikr-e-Karachi” session, the Karachi Restoration Movement has decided to take the field practically and this movement will become the voice of every citizen and fight for their rights.

Finally, he demanded from the government to improve law and order in the city, control heavy traffic, take strict action against corrupt elements and provide basic facilities to the citizens of Karachi. He warned that if immediate steps are not taken, a protest movement will be launched.
