Major Breakthrough in White House Dinner Attack: Suspect Identified as Former Teacher; Arsenal Recovered

WASHINGTON (HRNW): Significant progress has been made in the investigation into the shooting at the White House Correspondents’ Dinner. Law enforcement agencies have identified the arrested suspect as Cole Thomas Allen, a 31-year-old resident of Torrance, California.

According to media reports and social media profiles, Allen is a Caltech graduate who has worked as a part-time teacher and game developer.

Security Breach Under Investigation

During a media briefing, the Mayor of Washington and the Police Chief stated that the armed suspect approached Secret Service agents in the hotel lobby before being intercepted. Preliminary investigations suggest that Allen was a guest at the Washington Hilton Hotel. However, authorities are still investigating how he managed to enter the secure perimeter with a significant cache of weapons. The Police Chief revealed that the suspect was carrying a shotgun, a handgun, and multiple knives.

Motive and Targets

Investigators are currently reviewing hotel CCTV footage to determine the suspect’s motives and confirm the intended target. While President Trump previously suggested he was the target—noting the shooter was as close as 15 yards—police say the exact objective remains part of the ongoing probe. The suspect is scheduled to appear in court on Monday for formal indictment.

The incident occurred Saturday night while President Trump, the First Lady, and the Vice President were in attendance. Although the gunfire caused panic, the President and other guests remained safe thanks to the swift intervention of the Secret Service.
