Washington (HRNW)- The US Central Command (CENTCOM) has stated that American forces redirected 31 ships in the Strait of Hormuz during ongoing operations overnight. According to US media reports citing CENTCOM, the redirection of vessels took place as part of the continued US blockade in the strategic waterway, with some ships ordered back to ports and others forced to reroute. In a post on X, CENTCOM said most of the affected vessels were oil tankers and confirmed that all complied with instructions issued by US forces. The command further stated that the operation involves more than 10,000 US troops, 17 warships, and over 100 aircraft deployed to enforce pressure around Iranian maritime routes. Earlier, US President Donald Trump announced an extension of the ceasefire at the request of Pakistan, while maintaining that the blockade in the Strait of Hormuz would continue. CENTCOM had also released footage of a US operation involving the seizure of an Iranian merchant vessel, which Iran described as a violation of the ceasefire agreement. Meanwhile, Iran has made any negotiations conditional on lifting the blockade, accusing the United States of turning talks into pressure tactics and stating that US threats and broken commitments remain the main obstacles to diplomacy.
