University of Karachi and Savaira Sign MoU to Launch “Youth Wellness Program”

KARACHI (HRNW): The University of Karachi (UoK) and Savaira, a non-profit organization dedicated to mental health, signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) on Thursday, February 26, 2026, to implement and promote a comprehensive “Youth Wellness Program.” The signing ceremony took place at the Vice Chancellor’s Secretariat, marks a significant step toward prioritizing the mental and emotional well-being of the student body.

The agreement was signed by Professor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi, Vice Chancellor of the University of Karachi, and Dr. Yasmeen Khan, President of Savaira. Under this partnership, both institutions will collaborate on joint initiatives focusing on mental health awareness, emotional resilience, and skill-based training for the youth. Dr. Yasmeen Khan highlighted that Savaira has already trained over 500 students in the past two years, and this new agreement will further expand and formalize this critical support network.

Professor Dr. Khalid Mahmood Iraqi emphasized that identifying and guiding individuals struggling with mental health issues is a vital social service. He expressed hope that Savaira would provide the necessary technical expertise and help cultivate a dedicated group of student volunteers to act as mental health advocates on campus. The ceremony was attended by Dr. Nosheen Raza, Advisor for Student Affairs, along with members of the Student Advisory Board, including Dr. Salman Zubair, Dr. Sarwat Afshan, and Dr. Syed Asim Ali.
