New Sui Gas Tariff Challenged in Balochistan High Court

Quetta (HRNW): A constitutional petition has been filed in the Balochistan High Court challenging the new tariff schedule introduced by the Sui gas company, seeking to have the revised rates declared unconstitutional.

The petition, filed by Syed Nazeer Agha Advocate, argues that the new tariff schedule is inconsistent with Article 158 of the Constitution of Pakistan, as well as Articles 7, 8, and 25.

According to the petitioner, since natural gas is produced in Balochistan, Article 158 of the Constitution grants the people of the province the first right to benefit from the resource. The petition contends that the revised gas tariff does not comply with these constitutional provisions.

Syed Nazeer Agha Advocate has urged the public not to be concerned, stating that the matter is now before the court and that the Balochistan High Court is expected to hear the petition in due course.
