FIA Arrests Suspect in Illegal Hawala/Hundi Operation in Nowshera

Nowshera (HRNW): The Composite Circle of the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) Peshawar Zone has arrested a suspect during a successful operation against an illegal Hawala/Hundi business in Jahangira Bazaar, District Nowshera.

According to the FIA, the operation was conducted on 1 July 2026, during which the suspect, identified as Arif Khan, son of Syed Akbar Khan, was taken into custody. Authorities alleged that the suspect was operating an illegal Hawala/Hundi business without a valid license or authorization from the competent authority.

During the raid, FIA officials recovered PKR 1.431 million in cash, along with documents related to the alleged Hawala/Hundi network and other incriminating material believed to be connected to the illegal financial operation.

An FIR has been registered against the suspect under the relevant laws, and further investigations are underway to identify other individuals who may be linked to the network and to trace the financial transactions involved.

The FIA stated that it will continue its operations without discrimination against illegal financial crimes, including Hawala/Hundi and money laundering, as part of its efforts to safeguard Pakistan’s financial system.
