Pakistan to Inspect Over 400 Nursing Colleges Nationwide, Council Orders Inquiry into Irregularities

Islamabad (HRNW)- It has been decided to conduct inspections of more than 400 nursing colleges across the country to improve educational standards and regulatory oversight.

An important meeting of the Pakistan Nursing and Midwifery Council (PNMC) was held in Islamabad, during which the council delegated all inspection-related powers to the President and Vice President.

The council also made a notable decision that the head of the inspection team will not necessarily be from the nursing department. Instead, a doctor with a master’s degree or a qualified professional from the paramedical or allied health sector may lead the inspection team.

According to sources, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) representative was not invited to attend the Nursing Council meeting, while the member from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa participated despite a restraining order.

During the meeting, the Member Legal expressed concern over alleged irregularities within the council and called for a formal inquiry into the matter.
