Lahore (HRNW)- Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has officially started direct flights between Lahore and Manchester, marking a significant expansion of its international flight network.
According to a PIA spokesperson, PIA’s inaugural direct flight PK-709 departed from Lahore to Manchester.
A simple but dignified inauguration ceremony was held at Lahore Airport, where a cake was cut to celebrate the launch of the new route. Passengers were seen off by PIA Chief Operating Officer Khurram Mushtaq.
On this occasion, passengers welcomed the restoration of direct air connectivity between Lahore and Manchester, describing it as an important development for the Pakistani community living in the United Kingdom.
PIA stated that the direct flights will further strengthen people-to-people ties between Pakistan and the United Kingdom.
A total of 325 passengers traveled on the inaugural Lahore-Manchester flight, while the first flight from Manchester to Lahore had departed the previous night. The Manchester flight was seen off by PIA’s local administration and officials of the Manchester Airport Group.
The launch of direct flights from Lahore to Manchester is a significant addition to PIA’s international network. With the introduction of this new service, the number of weekly flights between Pakistan and Manchester has increased to five.
According to the PIA spokesperson, four weekly flights operate from Islamabad and one weekly flight from Lahore, providing greater convenience for the Pakistani diaspora in the UK.
