PM Shehbaz Declares Youth Employment a Top Government Priority

Islamabad (HRNW)- Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has said that providing decent employment opportunities to Pakistan’s skilled and talented youth is among the government’s top priorities.

Chairing a review meeting on the implementation of the National Youth Employment Policy, the prime minister directed authorities to take coordinated and effective measures to create employment opportunities for young people. He also ordered that progress on the policy be reviewed every month.

Shehbaz Sharif emphasized the need for inter-ministerial cooperation and a comprehensive strategy, with particular attention to equipping young people, especially women, with skills required for emerging employment opportunities. He also directed authorities to focus on youth in Balochistan and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

The prime minister said institutional reforms have been introduced in NAVTTC and SMEDA to better align Pakistan’s skilled workforce with domestic and international market requirements. He also directed officials to launch an awareness campaign highlighting employment and training opportunities available under the policy.

Officials briefed the meeting that NAVTTC is focusing on international certifications and language proficiency while providing market-oriented training to help Pakistani youth secure jobs abroad.

The Digital Youth Hub is also providing information about employment opportunities in Pakistan and overseas through a single platform. Meanwhile, Youth Development Cells are being established in educational institutions to provide career counseling and guidance on employment and skills development.

The meeting was attended by Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Ishaq Dar, Planning Minister Ahsan Iqbal, Economic Affairs Minister Ahad Khan Cheema, Information Minister Attaullah Tarar and other senior officials.
