Iran Lodges UN Protest Over Alleged Israeli Threats Against Supreme Leader, Calls It ‘State Terrorism’

New York (HRNW)- Iran has formally lodged a protest with the United Nations, accusing Israel of threatening to assassinate its Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei and describing the alleged threats as an act of state terrorism.

According to Iranian media, Iran’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Amir Saeed Iravani, sent a letter to UN Secretary-General António Guterres, the UN Security Council, and the UN General Assembly, expressing serious concern over what Tehran described as Israeli threats targeting Iran’s leadership.

In the letter, Iran stated that Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz’s alleged threat to assassinate the Iranian Supreme Leader reflects what it called a systematic and deliberate state policy aimed at targeting senior Iranian government and military officials.

Iran further alleged that Israel has previously targeted Iran’s top political and military leaders, including former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei and other senior officials. The letter also claimed that the United States provided cooperation, coordination, and support to Israel in these operations.

The Iranian envoy criticized the UN Security Council, saying it has failed to fulfill its responsibilities, allowing Israel to act with impunity and, according to Iran, violate international law.

The letter warned that if any further aggression or hostile action is taken against Iran, Tehran reserves the right to respond in defense of its sovereignty and national interests.

Iran also urged the United Nations to take notice of Israel’s alleged threatening statements and actions, ensure the implementation of international law, and play an effective role in preventing further escalation in the region.
