Maulana Tariq Jameel Handshake Video Sparks Debate, Son Yousuf Jameel Explains Viral Incident

Lahore (HRNW)- A video showing renowned religious scholar Maulana Tariq Jameel apparently declining to shake hands with a child has gone viral on social media, triggering widespread discussion and criticism online. Following the reaction, Yousuf Jameel, son of Maulana Tariq Jameel, released a detailed statement explaining the circumstances surrounding the incident.

Speaking in a video statement shared on Instagram, Yousuf Jameel said that criticism is a natural right of people and should be listened to seriously. However, he emphasized that it is equally important to understand the context, circumstances, and perspective of the person being criticized before reaching a conclusion.

He acknowledged that Maulana Tariq Jameel could have shaken hands with the child, but urged people to consider the daily routine of a public figure who meets thousands—if not millions—of admirers over the years. According to him, constant public interaction, handshakes, photographs, and selfies can be physically exhausting, and fatigue is a normal human condition regardless of a person’s stature.

Yousuf Jameel requested critics to spend even a single day observing Maulana Tariq Jameel’s schedule from morning till night to understand the demanding nature of his engagements. He added that despite the pressures of public life, Maulana Tariq Jameel deeply values the love and respect shown by people and never intends to disappoint those who admire him, but like every person, he can also experience moments of exhaustion.

The explanation has added another dimension to the viral debate, with social media users continuing to discuss the incident from different perspectives.
