Drone Strike Causes Fire at Barakah Nuclear Plant, No Casualties Reported

Abu Dhabi (HRNW)- A drone strike caused a fire at the Barakah nuclear power plant in the Al Dhafra region of Abu Dhabi, although no casualties or radiological impact have been reported.

According to a statement issued by the Abu Dhabi government on social media, authorities responded to a fire that broke out in an electrical generator located outside the containment area of the Barakah nuclear power plant. The fire was reportedly caused by a drone strike.

Officials confirmed that no injuries occurred in the incident and that there was no impact on the nuclear plant’s safety systems or radiation levels.

The UAE’s Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation (FANR) also stated that all units at the plant are operating normally and that the fire did not affect core operations or safety mechanisms.

Authorities have urged the public to rely only on official sources for information and to avoid spreading rumors or unverified reports while investigations continue.

According to media reports, drone attacks in the UAE have occurred intermittently despite a ceasefire agreement between the United States and Iran in April. Earlier tensions in the region saw accusations exchanged between Iran and Gulf states over attacks on strategic infrastructure.

In previous incidents, the UAE had accused Iran of involvement in attacks on its Fujairah port, which resulted in injuries to foreign nationals and fires at oil facilities.
