Paris (HRNW)- French authorities have arrested six individuals for allegedly hoisting a Palestinian flag from the Eiffel Tower without official permission.
According to French police sources, the incident occurred on Friday when a large Palestinian flag was displayed from the first floor of the Eiffel Tower, drawing widespread public attention.
The environmental activist organization ERF claimed responsibility for the action, stating that the protest was intended to express solidarity with the Palestinian people.
A representative of the organization said the demonstration aimed to highlight the ongoing situation in Gaza and the alleged environmental destruction in Palestinian territories.
Reports stated that the protest coincided with Nakba Day, observed annually to commemorate the displacement of Palestinians in 1948.
Photos and videos of the incident quickly went viral on social media, showing the Palestinian flag hanging prominently from the Eiffel Tower.
It is worth mentioning that last year, symbols of peace including a dove and an olive branch, along with the flags of Israel and Palestine, were projected onto the Eiffel Tower.
