Washington/Tehran (HRNW) – A report by the American newspaper The Wall Street Journal has revealed that the United Arab Emirates allegedly participated in covert attacks during the war against Iran.
According to the report, the United Arab Emirates targeted an oil refinery located on Iran’s Lavan Island, which resulted in a massive fire and the refinery being temporarily shut down.
Citing sources, the report said that the attack was carried out in early April when then-US President Donald Trump was close to declaring a ceasefire with Iran.
According to the newspaper, a source claimed that the US had quietly welcomed the UAE’s involvement in the conflict.
The report further said that Iran had allegedly launched ballistic missile and drone attacks on the UAE and Kuwait in response to these attacks.
According to sources, Iran has carried out attacks on various countries in the region in retaliation, with the UAE being the most targeted, with an estimated 2,800 attacks, more than the number of attacks on Israel.
The report comes at a time of growing global concern over tensions and regional conflicts in the Middle East.
