Modi Urges Indians to Avoid Gold Purchases and Cut Fuel Use Amid Economic Pressure

Hyderabad (HRNW)- Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed to the public to avoid buying gold, unnecessary use of petrol and non-essential travel expenses, while also considering postponing some non-essential activities including weddings and foreign trips.

Addressing a public event in Hyderabad, the Prime Minister said that citizens should reduce the use of petrol and diesel, prefer public transport and use the metro and other public means of transport wherever possible. He also stressed on promoting carpooling.

He said that in view of the current economic situation, it is necessary to reduce unnecessary expenses so that the pressure on the foreign exchange can be reduced. He appealed to the public to temporarily postpone unnecessary foreign travel and expensive events. This statement has come at a time when India is debating the impact of fluctuations in oil prices in the global markets on the economy and foreign exchange situation.
