Fourteen Children Killed, Six Injured After Roof Collapse at Tuition Centre in Lahore

Lahore (HRNW) – At least 14 children lost their lives and six others were injured after the roof of a tuition centre collapsed in the Kahna area of Lahore, according to Punjab health authorities and rescue officials.

The Punjab Health Minister confirmed that the death toll had risen to 14, while rescue officials said that 20 to 25 people, including a female teacher, were inside the tuition centre when the incident occurred. Most of those present were young children attending tuition classes.

Rescue officials reported receiving the emergency call at approximately 4:45 p.m. Rescue teams launched an immediate operation, successfully recovering several children trapped beneath the rubble before completing the search and rescue operation.

According to local residents, the building also functioned as a school during the morning hours, while tuition classes were held later in the day.

Police stated that construction work was underway on the upper floor of the building, while children were attending classes on the ground floor when the roof collapsed.

Authorities have taken two individuals, including the property owner, into custody as part of the investigation into the cause of the incident.

Hospital officials at THQ Hospital Kahna said the six injured children received immediate medical treatment and are currently in stable condition.

Among those reported injured are Abiha (8), Faria (10), Murtaza (11), Ayan (8), Rabia (7), and Hamida Rehan (30).

  • Ali (6), son of Farman
  • Arham (8), son of Hassan Ali
  • Dua (7), daughter of Gulfam

Authorities have launched an investigation to determine whether negligence or violations of building safety regulations contributed to the collapse.
