PTI MPA Sajjad Ali Soomro Criticizes PPP Over Lyari Development

Karachi (HRNW)Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Member of the Sindh Assembly Sajjad Ali Soomro (PS-106 Lyari) has strongly criticized the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) over what he described as the continued neglect of Lyari and the implementation of its development initiatives.

In a statement, Soomro alleged that Lyari has been deprived of its resources and basic public services for years, claiming that residents continue to face poverty, inadequate infrastructure, and a lack of essential facilities despite repeated promises of development.

Addressing PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari, the PTI lawmaker urged the party to stop, in his words, “misleading the people of Lyari through the so-called Transformation Program.” He asserted that residents are seeking practical solutions to long-standing issues rather than what he characterized as symbolic or showcase projects.

Soomro also questioned the appointment of individuals identified as Hammad N.D. Khan and Junaid G.D., asking under what authority they had been assigned responsibilities in Lyari. He argued that if the PPP has elected Members of the Provincial Assembly (MPAs), Members of the National Assembly (MNAs), and Town Chairmen, there should be no need for what he described as a parallel administrative system.

The statement reflects ongoing political differences over governance and development priorities in Lyari, an area that has long been at the center of public debate regarding urban infrastructure and service delivery.
