Sharjeel Memon Says PPP’s Position on New Provinces Remains Unchanged

Karachi (HRNW)- Senior Sindh Provincial Minister Sharjeel Inam Memon has said that the Pakistan Peoples Party’s (PPP) position on the creation of new provinces remains the same as the stance expressed by PPP leader Saeed Ghani.

Speaking at a press conference following a Sindh cabinet meeting in Karachi, Memon said the Constitution provides a procedure for creating new provinces. He said that if a provincial assembly passes a resolution in favor of a new province, the constitutional process can move forward.

Memon noted that the Sindh Assembly has passed a resolution opposing the creation of a new province, while the Punjab Assembly has passed a resolution in its favor. He also said PML-N leader Nawaz Sharif had directed his party not to issue statements on the matter, while reiterating that the PPP’s position is clear.

Criticizing the MQM, Memon said the party’s statements regarding new provinces were an attempt to gauge public sentiment and urged people not to fall into what he described as a political trap.

Commenting on former Prime Minister Imran Khan’s health, Memon said he wished him a speedy recovery and stressed that political differences should not undermine basic human decency. He called for equal access to medical facilities for everyone and said Imran Khan should receive appropriate hospital-related medical care.
