Pay Scale Revision Announced for Grades 1 to 6 at Sir Syed University

KARACHI (HRNW)– Sir Syed University of Engineering & Technology (SSUET) has announced a revision of the pay scales for all staff members in grades 1 to 6, as stated by Chancellor Muhammad Akbar Ali Khan. This initiative aims to enhance employee satisfaction and retention, reflecting the Zakir Ali Khan Panel’s commitment to improving compensation and aligning with the university’s goals of financial sustainability and employee welfare.
Chancellor Akbar Ali Khan emphasized that this decision fulfills promises made in the Zakir Ali Khan Panel’s manifesto and showcases the new management’s dedication to employee welfare. The updated pay scale is part of ongoing efforts to address workforce needs and recognize staff contributions at all levels. By implementing this revision, the administration seeks to offer fair and competitive compensation, crucial for attracting and retaining talent in the educational sector. The university is committed to transparency and collaboration as it implements these changes to improve overall working conditions.
Emphasizing the importance of financial sustainability, the Chancellor Akbar Ali Khan stated that the university’s ability to save depends on increasing revenues while simultaneously cutting down on expenditures. Highlighting a positive trend, he noted that the previous academic year saw record admissions, with expectations to surpass those numbers this year. “It was not easy to take this decision,” he remarked, underscoring the complexities involved in managing the university’s finances.
The Vice Chancellor, Prof. Dr. Afzal Haque, highlighted the scarcity of funds facing the university, emphasizing the need for collective action to enhance the institution’s standing. He reminded staff that as a private institution, generating funds is essential for operational sustainability and providing better benefits to employees.
Director of IT, Dr. Abdul Moid Khan, referred to the current initiatives as a “historical attempt for the benefit of the employees,” highlighting that these changes had been delayed for over a decade. He acknowledged the difficulties arising from previous management contracts, stating, “We are owning the contracts even though we don’t agree with them,” and emphasized the importance of addressing longstanding issues. Despite these challenges, the administration is committed to fostering a supportive environment for employees and aims for continued success. Dr. Moid encouraged staff to take full responsibility, maintain punctuality, and work collaboratively with their Heads of Departments to promote the university’s growth.
Event was attended by Registrar Cdre. (r) Syed Sarfraz Ali, SI (M), Adeel Ahmed, Aamir Hussain, Mumtaz Memon, Obaid Mughal, Dr. Kahsif Shaikh and others.
