“It Is Not ISPR’s Job to Decide Whether New Provinces Should Be Created; No New Province Will Be Created in Sindh,” Says Saeed Ghani

Karachi (HRNW): Sindh Provincial Minister Saeed Ghani has said that deciding whether new provinces should be created is not the responsibility of the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), describing the issue as a political and constitutional matter that should be decided through the relevant political and constitutional forums.

Saeed Ghani categorically stated, “Do whatever you want, there will be no new province in Sindh.” He said the division of Sindh or creation of a new province was unacceptable and reiterated that the provincial government’s position on the matter was clear.

He maintained that issues concerning the creation of provinces or changes to administrative boundaries should be addressed through constitutional and parliamentary processes, with public opinion and political consensus given due importance.

Human Rights Perspective

The debate over the creation of new provinces or administrative units concerns more than political boundaries. It also relates to political representation, equal development, fair distribution of resources and effective local governance.

HRNW notes that any discussion concerning administrative restructuring should take into account citizens’ political and democratic rights, equal opportunities and the interests of people across all regions. Such matters should be addressed through constitutional, democratic and peaceful political processes.
