Lahore (HRNW)- An inquiry report has revealed alleged financial irregularities and embezzlement involving hundreds of millions of rupees at Chohang Training College in Lahore, with authorities recommending criminal and departmental action against several officials and a contractor.
According to the report, alleged irregularities were identified in training fees, customs and other income, as well as food and canteen revenue, stationery, computer equipment, furniture, machinery, tea and coffee, transport and buildings. The figures cited in different categories collectively amount to hundreds of millions of rupees.
The inquiry committee recommended registering a criminal case against contractor Yasir Ayub and accountant Shahbaz Khalid. It also recommended departmental action against DIG Mehboob Aslam Lalla, DSP Shahid Javed and other officials over alleged mismanagement.
Several officers and employees were also named in connection with allegations of signing bogus bills and making false entries. The report alleged that contractor Yasir Ayub operated the training college as a personal business and prepared bills under the names of multiple companies allegedly established by him.
According to officials, DIG Mehboob Aslam Lalla has been made Officer on Special Duty (OSD), while DSP Shahid Javed has been suspended in light of the inquiry’s recommendations.
