Tehran (HRNW)- Iran has claimed to have seized a foreign oil tanker named ‘Ocean Coy’ in the Persian Gulf. Iranian official sources say that the operation was carried out through a special operation. Iran maintains that the tanker was trying to disrupt Iranian oil exports and harm national interests.
Iranian Navy and Revolutionary Guard personnel boarded the tanker and it was moved to the southern coast of Iran. It has been further reported that the ship was registered in the Persian Gulf under the flag of Barbados and was already subject to US sanctions. After the incident, concerns are being expressed about increasing tensions in the region.
