NED University Announces Admissions Policy for 2026-27: Seats Increased and New Programs Launched

KARACHI (HRNW) – NED University of Engineering and Technology has officially released its admission policy and seat distribution details for the academic year 2026-27, introducing significant changes to its intake capacity and fee structure.

Key Dates and Admission Process

According to Registrar Dr. Ghazanfar Hussain, the online admission portal will be open from March 30 to May 29. The entrance examination will be conducted in two phases:

  • Phase 1: June 4 to June 7.

  • Phase 2: Expected in the first week of July.

To qualify, candidates must secure at least 50% marks in the entry test. The final merit list will be calculated based on a weightage of 60% from the entry test and 40% from First-Year Intermediate results.

Seat Expansion and Academic Updates

The university has increased its total capacity by 140 seats, bringing the total number of available slots from 3,016 to 3,156. This expansion covers various categories, including the Karachi Board, A-Levels, Aga Khan Board, and minority quotas. Additionally, five seats previously under the Self-Finance category have been shifted to the Merit category.

At the Thar Campus, two new degree programs—BS English and BS Management Sciences—are being introduced to diversify academic opportunities in the region.

Revised Fee Structure

The Finance Committee has proposed an approximately 10% increase in fees:

  • Semester Fee: Expected to rise from Rs 51,930 to Rs 57,000.

  • Initial Admission Cost: New students are expected to pay approximately Rs 123,000 for the first semester, including admission and auxiliary charges.

  • Self-Finance: Local Self-Finance fees are proposed to increase to Rs 890,000, while Sponsored Self-Finance may rise to Rs 1.1 million.
