Karachi (HRNW) – Three Pakistan Rangers (Sindh) personnel were martyred and four others injured after an armed attack on a Rangers camp in Karachi, according to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).
In an official statement, the military’s media wing said the attack was carried out by militants belonging to Jamaat-ul-Ahrar, which it described as an Indian-backed group. ISPR stated that the assailants detonated an explosive device at the main gate of the Rangers camp before attempting to breach the perimeter.
According to ISPR, security forces responded immediately, foiling the attackers’ attempt to enter the camp. During the ensuing exchange of fire, three attackers were killed, while one wounded Afghan national, described by the military as an attacker, was taken into custody.
The military further stated that three Pakistan Rangers personnel embraced martyrdom, while four others sustained injuries during the operation.
Security forces have launched a clearance operation in the area to ensure that no additional threats remain. ISPR said counterterrorism operations would continue under Pakistan’s Azm-e-Istehkam strategy until militant threats are eliminated.
Authorities have not released further details regarding the identity of the attackers or the progress of the ongoing investigation.
