Election Commission of Pakistan Announces Schedule for Local Government By-Elections in 20 Districts of Balochistan

Islamabad (HRNW) – The Election Commission of Pakistan (ECP) has announced the schedule for local government by-elections to fill 81 vacant general seats in various local councils across 20 districts of Balochistan.

According to the official notification, the by-elections will be held in the districts of Pishin/Barshore, Chagai, Zhob, Sherani, Loralai, Duki, Musa Khel, Sibi, Harnai, Kohlu, Nasirabad, Usta Muhammad, Kachhi, Jhal Magsi, Kalat, Khuzdar, Lasbela, Hub, Kech, and Gwadar.

Under the announced schedule:

  • 30 June 2026: Returning Officers will issue the public notice.
  • 1–3 July 2026: Candidates may submit nomination papers to the respective Returning Officers.
  • 6–8 July 2026: Scrutiny of nomination papers will take place.
  • 9 July 2026: Preliminary list of candidates will be published.
  • 10–13 July 2026: Appeals against the acceptance or rejection of nomination papers may be filed before the Appellate Authority.
  • 16 July 2026: Last date for decisions on appeals.
  • 17 July 2026: Revised list of candidates will be published.
  • 18 July 2026: Final date for withdrawal of candidature.
  • 20 July 2026: Final list of contesting candidates will be published, and election symbols will be allotted.
  • 9 August 2026: Polling will be held.

The Election Commission stated that all stages of the electoral process will be conducted in accordance with the relevant election laws and regulations to ensure a transparent and orderly by-election process.
