Islamabad (HRNW)- JUI chief Maulana Fazlur Rehman has strongly condemned the killing of former MPA and Central Majlis-e-Shura member of JUI, Maulana Idrees, expressing deep grief over the loss of a senior religious scholar and political figure. In his statement, Maulana Fazlur Rehman said he was heartbroken by the news, describing Maulana Idrees as a respected scholar, eloquent preacher, and thoughtful politician who dedicated his life to the service and propagation of religion, peace, and national unity. He said the killing of such a prominent religious personality is not only a tragic loss for his family and followers but also a serious attack on voices advocating the teachings of the Quran, Sunnah, and Pakistan’s stability.
Maulana Fazlur Rehman emphasized that religious scholars have long played an important role in guiding society and serving as ideological supporters of the country, yet he expressed concern over what he described as inadequate protection for them. He recalled his long-standing relationship of trust, friendship, and mutual respect with Maulana Idrees, saying the nation has lost a sincere leader and devoted scholar. He also noted that workers of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam, students, and supporters across religious institutions are deeply saddened by the loss. The JUI chief demanded the immediate arrest of those responsible and called for strong action against the perpetrators, stressing the need to confront lawlessness and terrorism firmly.
