The report states that Musk has become the first person in history whose wealth has crossed $800 billion, putting him closer than ever to the trillion-dollar milestone. Forbes also revealed that the number of billionaires worldwide has reached a record 3,428, with their combined wealth hitting $20.1 trillion, the highest level ever recorded.
Experts say that rapid investment in artificial intelligence, unstable financial markets, and supportive monetary policies have contributed to the surge in billionaire wealth, adding nearly 400 new individuals to the list compared to last year. The report also notes that 20 individuals now hold fortunes exceeding $100 billion, reflecting the growing concentration of global wealth among the richest people.
