Karachi (HRNW)- Sindh Health Minister Dr. Azra Fazal Pechuho has confirmed that the Human Papillomavirus (HPV) vaccination campaign for girls will continue across the province, aiming to vaccinate approximately 3 million girls.
Speaking on the ongoing public health initiatives, the minister said the vaccination drive is part of efforts to reduce cervical cancer-related deaths, which she noted are contributing to a significant number of fatalities among women.
She stated that, on average, around eight women die daily due to cervical cancer, highlighting the urgency of preventive vaccination and awareness programs.
Dr. Pechuho also addressed reported cases in Khairpur, stating that eight children had been affected by monkeypox (Mpox) in the area. She said that rapid response measures were immediately taken to contain the spread of the infection.
According to the minister, a rapid response mechanism successfully helped prevent further transmission of the disease.
The Health Minister further announced that the government is moving towards implementing an electronic medical record (EMR) system, which will allow complete digital records of patients for better monitoring and healthcare management.
She also said that vaccination efforts in schools will be strengthened further, with children set to be vaccinated again as part of expanded immunization programs.
Dr. Pechuho reaffirmed the government’s commitment to public health, emphasizing that all necessary steps are being taken to protect citizens and improve healthcare delivery across Sindh.
