MQM-P Workers Released After Supreme Court Verdict in Baldia Factory Case

Karachi (HRNW)- Two prisoners, Zubair alias Chariya and Rehman alias Bhola, were released from Central Jail Karachi following the Supreme Court of Pakistan’s decision in the Baldia Factory fire case.

According to the Superintendent of Central Jail, both individuals had been serving their sentences at the prison before being released in compliance with the Supreme Court’s ruling.

Outside the jail, they were received by MQM-Pakistan leaders, including Anees Qaimkhani, Sindh Assembly Member Faheem Patni, Shariq Jamal, Furqan Ateeq, and Umair Siddiqui. Following their release, they proceeded to the party’s temporary headquarters in Bahadurabad, where party workers welcomed them.

Earlier this month, on June 10, 2026, the Supreme Court heard appeals in the Baldia Factory tragedy case and set aside the death sentences awarded to both men by the trial court and subsequently upheld by the Sindh High Court.

In a statement, the spokesperson for MQM-Pakistan congratulated party workers and members of the Central Coordination Committee on the release of the two detained workers. The spokesperson said their families had finally found relief after years of legal proceedings and imprisonment.

Party workers also gathered at Bahadurabad to welcome the released individuals following their arrival.
