Imphal, India (HRNW)- Government-run relief camps in Manipur are reportedly facing severe humanitarian challenges, with displaced residents struggling with malnutrition, shortages of drinking water, and inadequate medical facilities.
According to a report by Deccan Herald, conditions in several relief camps have highlighted serious gaps in the provision of basic services to people displaced by the ongoing conflict in the northeastern Indian state.
Thousands of displaced people are living in overcrowded temporary shelters, while approximately 24,000 residents are reportedly facing shortages of essential facilities and services.
Reports indicate that limited access to clean drinking water, healthcare, and adequate nutrition remains a major concern for people residing in the camps.
Human rights experts have raised concerns over the humanitarian situation, saying the conditions demonstrate the difficulties faced by displaced communities and the need for stronger assistance and essential services.
The situation in the camps has drawn renewed attention to the continuing humanitarian consequences of the conflict in Manipur, with displaced families remaining dependent on temporary shelters and relief assistance.
