Paris (HRNW)- France has expressed deep concern over the rising violence in Lebanon and has called for an urgent meeting of the United Nations Security Council to discuss the worsening situation. According to the French Foreign Ministry, the meeting is scheduled to take place on Wednesday to review the latest developments and their impact on regional stability.
France urged the international community to take immediate steps to restore peace and stability in Lebanon and said it would play an active role within the United Nations to promote international cooperation in resolving the crisis.
The situation in Lebanon has become increasingly tense as Hezbollah positions and individuals are being targeted in different parts of the country, following Hezbollah’s retaliatory actions after US and Israeli attacks on Iran. Amid the growing instability, the Lebanese government has also expressed a desire to disarm Hezbollah, a move that has reportedly received support from Syria.
