Peshawar (HRNW)- The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has announced a province-wide strike on May 6, citing what provincial officials describe as unfair treatment by the federal government in matters related to resource allocation and governance. Speaking on the issue, Chief Minister Sohail Afridi alleged that the province is facing discrimination in areas including NFC awards, electricity, and gas distribution, and said the strike is being organized as a protest against these grievances. Officials stated that emergency services will remain operational to ensure that essential public needs continue to be met during the strike.
The Chief Minister also raised concerns regarding the treatment and access rights of political figures currently in custody, calling for legal and humanitarian standards to be upheld. He appealed to members of the legal community and citizens who support constitutional and lawful processes to participate in the peaceful protest. Political observers note that the announcement may further intensify debate over federal-provincial relations and resource-sharing issues in Pakistan.
At a time when communities continue to face economic and social challenges, support for humanitarian and welfare initiatives remains important donations can be made at:
