Suspected Cholera Outbreak Claims Lives of Two Girls, 10 Family Members Affected in Atmankhel Tehsil

Bajaur (HRNW)- A suspected cholera outbreak has been reported in the Bandgai area of Atmankhel Tehsil, Bajaur, where 10 members of the same family were severely affected, while two young girls lost their lives.

The deceased have been identified as 9-year-old Alisha Bibi and 4-year-old Pakeeza Bibi. According to hospital sources, the affected family belongs to Lower Dir. Other patients were shifted to Timergara Hospital for medical treatment.

Following reports of suspected cholera and severe diarrhea cases, the Bajaur Health Department launched an immediate response. Acting on the instructions of the Deputy Commissioner (DC) Bajaur and the District Health Officer (DHO), an outbreak response team visited the affected area to assess the situation.

During the visit, health officials collected water samples for testing and provided the affected family with essential medicines, ORS, and other emergency medical assistance.

Health authorities stated that the situation is being closely monitored and all possible medical facilities are being made available to residents. Emergency measures have also been initiated to prevent the further spread of the suspected outbreak in the area.
