Manama (HRNW)- US Secretary of State Marco Rubio has said that the United States will not accept the Strait of Hormuz as the property of any one country and is committed to ensuring a lasting peace that protects the security and prosperity of its allies.
According to foreign media, while speaking with Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) foreign ministers in Bahrain, Marco Rubio stated that the US wants a durable and genuine peace agreement with Iran that does not undermine the interests of its regional partners. He emphasized that no decision would be made against the interests of US allies and that their concerns would be taken into account during negotiations with Iran.
Rubio further said that US technical teams will return to Switzerland on June 30 to continue discussions with Iran regarding its nuclear program and sanctions. He added that Washington is determined to make the agreement with Iran a success and will take all necessary steps to achieve that objective. However, he reiterated that the Strait of Hormuz cannot be considered the property of any single nation.
