Manila, Philippines (HRNW)- At least 12 people have died and eight remain missing in the Philippines after floods and landslides triggered by the combined effects of monsoon rains and Typhoon Dolphin.
According to The Philippine Daily Inquirer, Lawrence Mena, assistant secretary of the Office of Civil Defense, said that another 11 people were injured in the landslides.
He said the reported causes of death included landslides, rockfalls, falling trees, electrocution and drowning.
According to GMA News Online, approximately 586,000 people across nine regions and 33 provinces have been affected by the severe weather conditions.
More than 32,800 people have been displaced and are currently staying in evacuation centers or with relatives.
Authorities continue to monitor the situation as heavy rains and their associated hazards pose further risks to affected communities.
