Tel Aviv (HRNW)- Israel has reportedly requested the United States to reduce its military presence at Ben Gurion International Airport and remove additional refueling aircraft stationed there, citing concerns over disruptions to civilian air traffic.
According to Israeli media reports, Israel has asked the US to evacuate military refueling aircraft from Tel Aviv’s main airport. Reports state that the United States has already relocated 28 refueling aircraft from Ben Gurion Airport, while Israel has now requested the removal of 20 more military aircraft.
Israeli media further reported that Israeli authorities conveyed a message to Washington highlighting concerns that the presence of US military aircraft could negatively impact civilian aviation operations during the busy summer travel season. Officials reportedly warned that passenger flights have already been affected due to the deployment of American refueling aircraft at the airport.
In addition to requesting the relocation of refueling aircraft, Israel has also urged the United States to reduce the overall number of military aircraft operating from Ben Gurion Airport to help ensure the smooth functioning of commercial air travel.
The reported request comes amid ongoing regional security concerns and heightened military coordination between the United States and Israel. However, officials have emphasized the need to balance security requirements with the uninterrupted operation of civilian aviation services.
